West Virginia native Lynn Boggess prefers to paint en plein air, producing works striking in their manipulation of light and texture. Here, in 10 July 2018 (oil on canvas, 46” x 40”), he depicts a scene at Summersville Lake in the southwestern part of West Virginia. Boggess has received numerous awards for his landscapes, including his home state’s Governor’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
