New Orleans artist James Michalopoulos paints en plein air in the French Quarter and is known for his depictions—such as this oil on canvas titled Up and Down—of its historic buildings. His work can be found in the Louisiana governor’s mansion in Baton Rouge and the New Orleans Museum of Art.
