George Makari

George Makari is a professor of psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College, where he is also director of the interdisciplinary DeWitt Wallace Institute of Psychiatry. He is the author of Revolution in Mind: The Creation of Psychoanalysis; Soul Machine: The Invention of the Modern Mind; and Of Fear and Strangers: A History of Xenophobia. His essays have appeared in The New Yorker, The Atlantic, The New York Times, and the Los Angeles Review of Books.
